چکیده
Electrical and electromagnetic E&EM methods for nearsurface investigations have undergone rapid improvements over the past few decades. Besides the traditional applications in groundwater investigations, natural-resource exploration, and geological mapping, a number of new applications have appeared. These include hazardous-waste characterization studies, precision-agriculture applications, archeological surveys, and geotechnical investigations. The inclusion of microprocessors in survey instruments, development of new interpretation algorithms, and easy access to powerful computers have supported innovation throughout the geophysical community and the E&EM community is no exception. Most notable are development of continuous-measurement systems that generate large, dense data sets efficiently. These have contributed significantly to the usefulness of E&EM methods by allowing measurements over wide areas without sacrificing lateral resolution. The availability of these luxuriant data sets in turn spurred development of interpretation algorithms, including: Laterally constrained 1D inversion as well as innovative 2Dand 3D-inversion methods. Taken together, these developments can be expected to improve the resolution and usefulness of E&EM methods and permit them to be applied economically. The trend is clearly toward dense surveying over larger areas, followed by highly automated, post-acquisition processing and interpretation to provide improved resolution of the shallow subsurface in a cost-effective manner.

Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Deionized Water on Surface Roughness of Near Dry Electro Discharge Machining of AISI D2 Steel
The electro discharge machining (EDM), one of the methods used in the machining industry and a non-traditional manufacturing method, the electro erosion process does not depend on the hardness of material and offers a way to process materials of very complex geometry with very fine and high precision by using cheap electrode materials, which make it a preferred method. In this study, effect of ...

متن کاملA simple form of MT impedance tensor analysis to simplify its decomposition to remove the effects of near surface small-scale 3-D conductivity structures
Magnetotelluric (MT) is a natural electromagnetic (EM) technique which is used for geothermal, petroleum, geotechnical, groundwater and mineral exploration. MT is also routinely used for mapping of deep subsurface structures. In this method, the measured regional complex impedance tensor (Z) is substantially distorted by any topographical feature or small-scale near-surface, three-dimensional (...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Surface and Near Bottom Currents in the Bushehr Bay
Bushehr Bay is situated along the northern Iranian coasts of the Persian Gulf, between 28°52΄ and 29°5΄ north latitude and 50°42΄ and 50°52΄east longitude. In this study COHERENS, which is a threedimensional hydrodynamic model, was employed to simulate surface and under surface currents in the Bushehr Bay. The atmospheric forces and four main tidal constituents M2, S2, K1, O1 and also boundary ...
